18.05.2026 - The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) supports companies and organisations in Switzerland in strengthening their cyber resilience in a targeted and efficient way. The NCSC already offers resources to help Swiss communes draw up emergency plans. It has now adapted these resources for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and is making them available in a dedicated SME version. The NCSC will host two online brownbag lunch sessions for Swiss SMEs on 2 and 9 September to present the contents of the emergency planning model and the associated resources. The emergency plan will also be presented at an awareness event organised by ITSec4KMU. The event will take place on 2 June 2026.
Emergency planning is a key component of effective risk management. It enables organisations to analyse potential problems and their impacts, and address them proactively. By considering possible risks at an early stage, emergency planning enables organisations to identify and implement preventive measures. It covers the emergency organisation, a plan for emergency communication, key emergency contacts, and concrete measures. Together, these elements form the basis of a coordinated and appropriate response in time-critical situations.
Protective measures and resources
Various cyberincidents involving SMEs have shown that many companies could be better prepared for such events. For this reason, the NCSC has adapted its existing emergency planning template for cyberincidents – originally developed for Swiss communes – to meet the needs of SMEs. On the NCSC website, companies can find a simple emergency plan model, as well as practical resources such as an emergency checklist, an emergency plan template and an explanatory video. A feedback form is also available, allowing organisations to submit comments to help further improve and expand these resources.
Online brownbag lunch: Emergency Planning for SMEs (September 2026)
The NCSC will host two online brownbag lunch sessions for Swiss SMEs on 2 and 9 September, each from 12–1pm, to present the contents of the emergency planning model and the associated resources. The sessions will be held in German and French and will be published on the NCSC's YouTube channel.

Presentation at the ITSec4KMU awareness event
The emergency plan will also be presented at an awareness event organised by ITSec4KMU. The event will take place on 2 June from 1.30pm at the Theater Casino in Zug and is aimed at SMEs with up to 50 employees.
