The NCSC currently records no increase in cyber attacks on Switzerland in conjunction with the Ukraine Conflict

25.02.2021 - Due to the reporting on possible cyber risks in connection with the Ukraine conflict the National Cyber Security Centre publishes an assessment of the cyber situation in Switzerland. Currently, the NCSC does not see any increase of harmful activities in cyberspace that would directly affect Switzerland.

The Federal Intelligence Service (FIS) continuously monitors and analyses the current cyber threat situation and is in close contact with the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and international partners in this regard.

The NCSC does assess side effects of cyber operations, which might lead to unspecific and untargeted impacts, as likely. Special caution should be executed by organizations and enterprises, which have dependencies on suppliers or near-shoring partner within the conflict region.

In case of a change of the present cyber threat situation, the NCSC will inform National Critical Infrastructure Providers accordingly, as well as industry and the public.

In both normal and extraordinary situations, the same recommendations apply to prevent cyberattacks:

It is vital to implement basic protection, secure remote access and ensure access security using two-factor authentication. In addition, take special care when opening emails and attachments from unknown senders. For more information on how to protect you, please see our advices.

You can also report security incidents via our reporting form.
