30.10.2025 - At the Digital Switzerland Advisory Board meeting on 30 October the focus was on information security and cybersecurity. Under the chairmanship of Federal Councillor Martin Pfister and with the participation of Federal Chancellor Viktor Rossi, representatives from the cantons, business, academia and civil society met to exchange views on the current state of national cybersecurity measures. The discussions centred on information security and cybersecurity in the context of the National Cyberstrategy, and highlighted specific areas for action and examples of what works in practice.
Cybersecurity is a cornerstone of digitalisation. That is why the Federal Council has once again designated cybersecurity as one of the three key topics of the Digital Switzerland Strategy for 2025. At today's meeting, chaired by Federal Councillor Martin Pfister and attended by Federal Chancellor Viktor Rossi, the Digital Switzerland Advisory Board reaffirmed the importance of cybersecurity in maintaining public and business trust in digital services and infrastructures. Cybersecurity is also a key element of the Federal Council's security policy considerations and forms part of the new security policy strategy currently being prepared. The National Cyberstrategy (NCS) will establish Switzerland's position as a secure, resilient and internationally connected digital hub.
Cybersecurity challenges and possible solutions
The discussions focused on raising awareness and providing information, protection measures for everyday life, and ensuring that authorities are able to operate in emergencies and crises. Participants also considered ways to enhance Switzerland's international standing in this area. They emphasised the importance of viewing cybersecurity as not only a technical issue, but also a societal and strategic one. The rapid implementation of NCS measures and easy access to information for the public and private sectors were identified as key success factors in particular. Today's meeting clearly demonstrated that Switzerland has strong partnerships in place to tackle challenges in the digital space with determination and foresight.
Digital Switzerland Advisory Board: Exchange on key topics in the field of digitalisation
At the Digital Switzerland Advisory Board meetings, members of the Federal Council and the Federal Chancellor exchange views with representatives from the worlds of science, business, politics, public administration and civil society on topics related to the digital transformation. The meetings take place several times a year with a changing line-up of participants and are chaired by a member of the Federal Council or the Federal Chancellor. Each year, the Federal Council defines the key topics of the Digital Switzerland Strategy. An Advisory Board meeting is held for each key topic. The meetings are organised by the Federal Chancellery.
