Cyber Security Month: Tips for young people

20.10.2025 - Many young people spend a large part of their free time online. Whether chatting, on social media or gaming, the online world offers endless distractions. Since a large part of social life takes place on the internet and a lot of personal data is disclosed, the risk of being manipulated also increases. One of the biggest dangers is phishing.

‘Oversharing’, when an unnecessary amount of personal data is shared online, is a particular risk. If you regularly post private information or photos, this makes it easier for fraudsters to launch targeted attacks, because the more they know about you, the more credible their scam message appears. And just a few careless clicks can be enough to lose access to important accounts.

To raise awareness among young people during this year's European Cybersecurity Month, Switzerland is taking a special approach. Working with Netpathie, young people have investigated various aspects of phishing and created exciting content and an interactive quiz.

Test your knowledge and find out how well you recognise phishing: phishing quiz

Have you discovered a phishing page or received a phishing email?

Report them at antiphishing.ch or using the NCSC reporting form.

Do you want to check if your data are already in the wrong hands?

Then check if your email address has been compromised at Have I Been Pwned and if in any doubt, change your password!

Tips:

  • Never share passwords or access data with others.
  • Disclose as little personal information as possible.
  • Check your privacy settings on social media.
  • Don't rush – look carefully for any suspicious signs before you click.
  • Always check the source of the message or information.
